The Don’t give up project called on the resources, experience and genius of every level of language educator from across Europe to improve the motivation of students to learn languages.

The project used 5 channels to gain information:

  • Questionnaires
  • In-depth Interviews
  • Meaning Constitution Analysis
  • Analysis
  • Workshops

Questionnaires

We designed a two part questionnaire that asked for ideas on how to improve motivation at every level of language education, including:Fresh Wind

  • Language schools and colleges
  • Languages courses, content, structure etc.
  • Language teaching
  • Language students

We also asked for different approaches to learning from a:

  • Pedagogic approach
  • Psychological
  • Structural

Over 50 completed questionnaires were completed and analyzed from all over Europe.

In-depth Interviews

In-depth interviews were completed with language teachers.

Meaning Constitution Analysis

A Meaning Constitution Analysis looked further in to the real ideas being submitted from the questionnaires and the interviews.

Analysis

All the research channels were analzed in a matrix that was designed to bring together all the results of the research.

Workshops

These were held with language teachers in the Czech Republic and Spain.

Finally all the information was drawn together and filtered through the experience of the project partners to arrive at the final ideas for the Best Practices.
